I was going through a post of my friend mentioning why we deserve the politicians we have in reference to the following post which has been up on fb.
"In 1982, In Singapore, LOKPAL BILL was implemented and 142 Corrupt Ministers & Officers were arrested in one single day.. Today Singapore has only 1% poor people & no taxes are paid by the people to the government, 92% Literacy Rate, Better Medical Facilities, Cheaper Prices, 90% Money is white & Only 1% Unemployment exists.. Re Post this if you want to live in a corruption free country..... and support ANNA HAZARE !"
I'm not sure how far it is true. This is comparing apples with oranges. Singapore is a country state and city all in one maybe smaller than some of our small cities. The subjective realities are different. Many supporters are supporting for fun more than serious purpose. This is the biggest public event after IPL.
Cause of the movement
The cause of the movement seems to be the epic levels of corruption we have now in our nation. Corruption is not any new in India and why is this sudden agitation?
It seems to be the numbers the 2G scam has exposed though the scam benefited each one of us by bringing down the mobile bills through increased competetion.
The real cause
The real cause is the numbers which we haven't heard in any other scams. If we travel down south it has been at epic levels in few states out of which Tamil Nadu stands in top ranking for being a corrupt state.
The recent ad film of Univercell showcases the corruption in Tamil Nadu which starts with Auto wala demanding more than the tab. Tamilians are tolerant with it. Corruption starts with an Auto Rikshaw and ends with Politicians in Tamil Nadu. We can say Tamil Nadu is an Auto Corrupt State where every 5 years the EX CM will be behind the bars. The disease has spread to the nation by incorporating DMK into the center. Now the nation is tasting Sambar of Corruption making it an Auto Corrupt nation.
My two cents of advice to Anna Hazare is to fight for Tamil Nadu to be made a nation of its own to curtail corruption. Since Tamil Nadu has Anna of their own they will be the happy to support the new age Anna.
Gupta, that was one amazing insight that you have given. Loved the deadpan humour and the message in it. Hope to see more of your pearls of wisdom over here.

ReplyDeletehi gupta as a person from chennai i do partly agree with the comment... there is CWG Kalmadi who is corrupted to the core and he has been looting Indian Olympic association money for the last 20 years.. all the babus in Delhi has been doing this for the last 35 yrs (The Week magazine carried an article 5 yrs back on the delhi babus...) but our EX cCM family is the corrpted lot... and now Rajasekara reddy son is in cbi radar...Chavan..in mumbai...and in everyother state the CM and their family has been looting.. on thing for sure we should not allow more than one person from a family (bloodrelation) to be in political power?? is it possible to bring a bill on this??
ReplyDeleteVetri, we have forgotten many other corrupt states for that reason. I'm only pointing out about the tolerance we have in Tamil Nadu. In other states they are brought to justice or deprived of power but the nature of accepting corruption at the grass root level like an auto fare can only be possible in Chennai.
ReplyDeleteCorruption needs a breeding ground and if we don't stop it at a grass root level how are we even eligible to talk about epic levels of corruption.
I would say stop allowing Auto drivers to be corrupt if we can that will augment for a better future. As long as we are tolerant at that level we have no right to talk about corruption in any form.
